Challenge:
Psalm 89:7-15 "The highest angelic powers stand in awe of God. He is far more awesome than all who surround His throne. 8 O Lord God of Heaven's Armies! Where is there anyone as mighty as you, O Lord? You are entirely faithful. 9 You rule the oceans. You subdue their storm-tossed waves. 10 You crushed the great sea monster. You scattered your enemies with your mighty arm. 11 The heavens are yours, and the earth is Yours; everything in the world is yours-you created it all. 12 You created north and south. Mount Tabor and Mount Hermon praise your name. 13 Powerful is your arm! Strong is your hand! Your right hand is lifted high in glorious strength. 14 Righteousness and justice are the foundation of your throne. Unfailing love and truth walk before you as attendants. 15 Happy are those who hear the joyful call to worship, for they walk in light of your presence, Lord."
It is interesting to realize that this Hebrew word "faithfulness" in verse 8 "entirely faithful" is best understood to recognize its full meaning to literally mean "steady." God is steady in all of His dealings in our lives to the same point of lifting His arms on the Cross of Calvary to pay for our whole lifes sins.
Mercy and truth are best demonstrated in Jesus, for He always speaks the truth, but He also couches the truth in His amazing mercy. In all honesty don't we also desire this sort of influence in our lives? Truth and Mercy!!!
So the honest thought is sometimes brought to our mind, How can I rejoice all day long? I think it is most possible when we stop to reflect on just how our Great and Powerful God ministers in our life, by recounting the names given to us by our Lord in the scriptures:
I am that I am Exodus 3:14. God will do whatever we need Him to do in our lives
Jehovah-Ropheka Exodus 15:26 The God who heals, our hearts, and spirits
Jehovah-Jireh Genesis 22:14 The Lord who provides
Jehovah-Nissi Exodus 17:15 The Lord our banner or covering (When we feel exposed)
Jehovah-Tsidkenu. Jeremiah 23:6. The Lord our righteousness
El Shaddai. Genesis 17:1. Our God who is all powerful and yet as tender towards us as a mother
towards her new born baby
Abba Mark 14:36. Our Heavenly Father who patiently guides us with His great wisdom and
foreknowledge
SO GO WITH GOD for only He can fill our hearts and minds with rejoicing in times of sorrow and uncertainty. Only His voice can bring calmness to our fearful, concerns. So reflect on His steadying influence in your life, His great strength and working in your life in the past. "How Great Is Our God"
